Cultural Context
They say phones erode human connection.
There’s a societal backlash against phones. Not only are they seen as addictive, they’re seen as a major cause of social alienation. Instead of connecting in the real world, people spend their time on social media. And even when they do get together they’re stuck looking at their phones.
Creative Strategy
Show how phones bring us together on holidays.
Verizon is not an ad supported platform. We have no interest in more time spent on phones. We don’t want our customers addicted. As a corrective measure to the cultural context, we used Thanksgiving as a chance to champion our role as leader in the kind of culturally and developmentally positive connections we believe are best served by wireless.
